Looking to use up your Qantas points and know the routes with the best classic reward flight availability for the month of October? You’ve come to the right spot! We’ve checked the Qantas website to find the top reward options for October. While there are many flights going out, coming back in October might be tough. But, there are some routes with good availability both ways! Let’s dive in.
Please note that while I’ve focused on Sydney, the search also includes flights from nearby cities like Melbourne and Brisbane, with similar availability.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Fiji:
Availability on this route to/from is as good as you can get it. Multiple flights per day, availability on almost all flights. A safe bet for the month of October.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Queenstown:
Plenty of reward seats to/from Queenstown via Sydney in the month of October! Plenty of availability in both Business & Economy.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Taipei:
Great availability in most cabins month round. Availability getting home is also strong. One of the routes with most availability in the month of October.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Manila:
Decent availability to Manila. Note most of these flights include a stopover but there are direct seats scattered throughout these dates. Getting home availability reduces significantly. It is a possible route and not one of the worst!
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Singapore:
Decent availability to Singapore, some days have stopovers but multiple flights going each day means availability is positive. Getting home will need to be at the back end of the month and likely in economy.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Santiago:
Availability is possible to/from in October particularly on the back end of the month (for returning home). Will be a little tricky getting dates to line up but there is decent availability in October!
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Tokyo:
Availability has improved since previous months but still very tricky getting to/from Japan in October. Qantas did drop a ton of reward seats for early 2024 months which may be a better option.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Los Angeles:
Ok Availability to the USA. Return flights home from Los Angeles to Sydney are very limited. Only a few days with reward seats in any class…
Flight Availability – Sydney to Bali:
Reward seat availability to Bali is OK… not great but OK… While it looks like there is plenty of seats on the calendar some seats are not on direct flights and have a stopover… Getting home is an issue though… very limited reward seats. There are better routes available for the month of October.
Flight Availability – Sydney to Dubai:
In previous months any sort of travel to/from Dubai was extremely tough! Looks like that is changing… there is frequently Business & First class (limited) reward seats TO Dubai on dates close to departure. Getting home is an issue though, very limited reward seats. If planning a trip, could always get a flight to Dubai direct and come home via another city (e.g Dubai -> Singapore/Jakarta/Manila/Taipei etc)
Flight Availability – Sydney to Bangkok:
OK availability… while the calendar may look like plenty of flights, most of these flights have stopovers taking you to all sorts of random destinations first. Direct flight availability is very limited. Getting home has less options. There are better routes for the month of October.
Classic Reward Flight Availability – Sydney to Vancouver:
Mixed feelings on this route… usually you can get direct flights but most of these seats are with a stopover in LAX via American Airlines. Still, a way to get there but not the most efficient. Seats coming home are ok, not great but doable. Certainly better options available.
Destinations that didn’t make the list:
Hong Kong, China – Availability not great both to/from
Hawaii (Honolulu): Shows decent availability but it is on AA via LAX which is a very painful way of getting to Honolulu.
Seoul, Korea – Scattered availability and mainly in premium cabins with stopovers via Taipei.
Johannesburg, South Africa – Limited availability but there are a few business class seats scattered throughout the month. Getting back to AUS is a problem though. This route is always tough!
Rome (Via Perth) – Options on Emirates but not great availability….. there are better options.
